Canada produced a total of 3.31 million m³ of softwood lumber in January (-13% compared to same month in 2025), according to Statistics Canada. The production decreased by 11% in British Columbia and decreased by 13% in Eastern Canada.
The trend lines for the production of softwood lumber in Eastern Canada and British Columbia are decreasing.
Export
The total export of softwood lumber from Canada was approximately 1.90 million m³ in February (-11% compared to same month in 2025) and 3.65 million m³ during January-February (-20% compared to 2025). The trend line for the total export is decreasing at a low level.
The export of softwood lumber to the United States was 3.20 million m³ during January-February (-23% compared to 2025). The export to China was 163,000 m³ (+3%) and to Japan 105,000 m³ (-6%).
